AI Posts for a Telegram Channel: Voice, Prompts and Quality Checks

TL;DR. Good AI posts for a Telegram channel come from a repeatable setup, not from one clever prompt. Fix the channel voice once (tone, audience and rules). Write one instruction per job. Score each draft before it goes out, and read the first drafts yourself. Autogram stores the voice with the channel, so the tenth post reads like the first.

Want the voice stored with the channel instead of retyped? See how AI content generation in Autogram works.

Why do AI posts for a Telegram channel sound generic?

AI posts sound generic when the model gets a topic and nothing else. It does not know who reads your channel, which tone you use or which words you never write. Without that context it writes the average post. The fix is context that you write once and reuse, not a longer prompt every time.

Anthropic's prompting guide gives a useful test: treat the model as a brilliant new employee who lacks context on your norms, and show your prompt to a colleague who knows nothing about the task. If the colleague would be confused, the model will be too (Anthropic prompting best practices, read October 2026). A channel owner has that context in their head. The workflow below moves it into settings.

Step 1: Set your Telegram brand voice once

Brand voice for a channel is three short answers: how the posts sound, who reads them and which rules always apply. In Autogram these are three fields on the channel: Tone, Target audience and Brand guidelines. Open Channels → Internal channels, press Edit on your channel, open the AI tab, fill in the fields and press Update.

FieldThe question it answersExample for a crypto news channel
ToneHow should the post sound?Authoritative
Target audienceWho reads it?Tech-Savvy
Brand guidelinesWhich rules always apply?Name the source. No price predictions. No hype words.

Write the guidelines as one rule per line. Say what to do, not only what to avoid: "Name the source" gives the model more to work with than "No rumors". The channel voice guide shows each screen.

The voice belongs to one channel. You can change it on one channel without touching your other channels.

Step 2: Write one instruction per job

An instruction is a reusable prompt template for one job: writing a post, translating it, adding hashtags or writing a caption. Write it once and attach it to an automation. Every post that automation generates then reuses it.

A good instruction has five parts:

  • The job. "Write one news post from the source text below."
  • The reader. One sentence about who reads it and why they follow you.
  • The format. Length, structure and emoji use. Telegram limits a text message to 1-4096 characters and a photo caption to 0-1024 characters after entity parsing (Telegram Bot API, version 10.3 of August 24, 2026). If your posts carry a photo, tell the model to stay under the caption limit.
  • One or two examples of a post you like. Anthropic names examples as one of the most reliable ways to steer format, tone and structure, and suggests 3-5 varied ones for best results (Anthropic prompting best practices, read October 2026).
  • The reason behind each rule. "No price predictions, because readers treat us as news, not advice" works better than a bare ban.

To make an automation follow the channel voice, add the profile variables to its instruction: {{channel_tone}}, {{channel_audience}} and {{channel_brand_guidelines}}. AI drafts that you start by hand already use the profile.

Write one news post from the source below.
Tone: {{channel_tone}}. Reader: {{channel_audience}}.
Always follow: {{channel_brand_guidelines}}
Keep it under the caption limit. End with one question.

Step 3: Let the quality score flag weak drafts

A draft needs a second opinion before it reaches subscribers. Autogram's content quality scoring rates a post on four dimensions: readability, engagement potential, brand voice consistency and length. Each dimension gets 0 to 100, and the average is the overall score.

Three behaviours matter in daily use:

  • You see which part is weak. A strong hook with a length problem looks different from a well-paced post that drifts from your voice.
  • Rewrites are scored again. Scoring proposes up to three rewritten versions, and each is scored from scratch. Polish repeats the loop up to three times, aiming for a target score of 80 by default.
  • A minimum score flags, it never blocks. If you set a minimum and a post lands below it, the post still goes out on time. You get a notification afterwards.

The score is an AI model's judgment of the text. It is not a measure of how your audience will react, so treat it as a filter for obvious problems and keep reading your analytics for the real answer.

How often should you review AI posts yourself?

Review every draft from a new instruction until you trust it, then spot-check. The first ten drafts show you where the instruction is weak: wrong tone, invented details or a missing source. Fix the instruction, not the single post, and the next batch improves.

Always check facts, names, numbers and links. Google's guidance on AI-generated content, last updated October 1, 2026, says models predict likely wording instead of retrieving verified facts, so you should fact-check output before you publish. The same page warns that many pages generated without added value may break its scaled content abuse policy. That is a search rule, but the lesson fits a channel too: volume without value costs you subscribers.

What changed recently: Telegram's own AI styles

Telegram's May 2026 update let users craft custom text editor styles from personalized prompts and share them through links (AlternativeTo, May 13, 2026). That helps a person rewrite one message. A channel profile does a different job: it keeps the voice with the channel, so every AI draft for that channel starts from the same rules.

Common mistakes

  • Voice only in one prompt. Another automation on the same channel then sounds different. Keep the voice in the channel profile.
  • A profile that no instruction uses. An automation needs the variables above in its instruction.
  • Rules that only forbid. A list of bans gives the model nothing to aim at.
  • No length limit. A caption over the limit is a failed post.
  • Reading the score as audience reaction. It rates the text, not the readers.

FAQ

Can AI write Telegram posts in my own style?

Yes, if you describe the style. Set the tone, the audience and a few brand rules once, and add one or two example posts to the instruction. The model then has your rules instead of guessing. Check the first drafts and refine the rules.

Where do I set the voice for AI posts in Autogram?

Open Channels → Internal channels, press Edit on your channel and open the AI tab. Fill in Tone, Target audience and Brand guidelines, then press Update. Each channel keeps its own voice.

How long can an AI-written Telegram post be?

A text message can be 1-4096 characters and a photo caption 0-1024 characters, counted after entity parsing (Telegram Bot API, version 10.3 of August 24, 2026). Put the limit into your instruction.

Does a low quality score stop a post from publishing?

No. A minimum score only flags a post after it goes out. Autogram sends a notification that names the post and its score. It does not delay or block the send.

Do I need to review AI posts before they go out?

Review every draft from a new instruction until its output is steady, then spot-check. Always check facts, names and links, because AI models can state wrong details with confidence.

Does Telegram have its own AI writing tool?

Telegram added custom text editor styles built from personalized prompts in May 2026 (AlternativeTo, May 13, 2026). It helps you rewrite a single message. It is separate from a stored channel voice that applies to every AI draft for a channel.

Bottom line

Better AI posts do not come from a perfect prompt. They come from a voice you set once, an instruction for each job, a score that flags weak drafts and a human who reads the first batch. Set the tone, audience and rules for one channel in Autogram's AI content settings, then check the next five drafts.
