Telegram Scheduled Messages: How to Schedule Posts Step by Step

Telegram Scheduled Messages: How to Schedule Posts Step by Step
TL;DR. To schedule a message in Telegram, hold the Send button (mobile) or right-click it (desktop), choose Schedule Message, pick a date and time, and confirm. Telegram sends it for you, even if you are offline. The native scheduler works one message at a time. If you run several channels or want AI drafts and automations, you need a layer on top.

Prerequisites
You need a current Telegram app and, for a channel, permission to post in it. Telegram's own scheduler does not work in the web version, according to Guiding Tech (August 2024), so use the mobile or desktop app.

Step 1 — Schedule a message in Telegram
Open the chat or channel and type your message. Then:
- Mobile: hold the Send button and tap Schedule Message.
- Desktop: right-click the Send button and choose Schedule Message.
Telegram announced this feature on 5 September 2019 with the same gesture: hold Send, then pick Schedule Message. Choose the date and time and confirm. A clock icon marks the message as waiting.
One edge case: the Telegram API documentation says a message scheduled less than 10 seconds ahead is sent immediately. Pick a time at least a minute away.
Step 2 — Find, edit and reschedule scheduled messages
Open the Scheduled Messages list. On mobile, tap the Scheduled icon. On desktop, click the Scheduled Messages icon. Per Guiding Tech (August 2024), you can long-press (mobile) or right-click (desktop) a message to reschedule or delete it.
The API also lets a client flush a queued message at once, so a scheduled post does not have to wait for its time.

Step 3 — Use "send when online" and repeat
Two options sit in the same schedule menu:
- When online. Per the Telegram API documentation, this works in private chats only. Telegram sends the message at once if the person is online. Otherwise it waits until they return. It does not apply to channels.
- Repeat. Telegram's 19 November 2025 update added repeating scheduled messages, for example every day or twice per month. The API documentation says Premium users can send them, and only for a single message at a time. Telegram's announcement does not name a tier, so check your own app.
What the native scheduler does not do
Native scheduling is good for a one-off post. A channel owner usually needs more. Here is the gap, as of October 2026:
| Need | Native Telegram | With Autogram |
|---|---|---|
| Schedule one message | Yes | Yes |
| Repeat one message | Yes, one message at a time (check the tier) | Automations on paid plans |
| One post to several channels | One chat at a time | One automation can publish to several connected channels |
| Draft the text for you | No | AI assistant on paid plans |
| Scheduled posts when a trial ends | Not applicable | Scheduled posts still publish when a trial ends |
For plan limits, see pricing. Autogram scheduling is available on every plan within its limits. In our experience, the break point arrives with the second or third channel. You then repeat the same steps in each chat and keep the times straight yourself.
Common mistakes
- Wrong time zone. The picker uses your device time. Check it before you confirm, especially when your audience lives elsewhere. Our multi-time-zone guide covers three ways to handle this.
- Forgetting the post is queued. A scheduled post still shows in the list. Review it if news changes before it goes out.
- Expecting a maximum. The API documentation names no maximum number of scheduled messages and no limit on how far ahead you can schedule. We did not find a published limit, so test your own app before you queue a large backlog.

FAQ
Does Telegram have a scheduler?
Yes. Hold the Send button on mobile, or right-click it on desktop, and choose Schedule Message. Telegram has offered this since September 2019. It works in chats and channels.
How do I schedule a message on Telegram?
Type the message, hold Send, tap Schedule Message, pick a date and time, and confirm. The message appears in the Scheduled Messages list with a clock icon until it sends.
Can I schedule a message in a Telegram channel?
Yes, if you can post in that channel. The Telegram API treats channels and chats the same way for scheduling. The "when online" option is the exception: it is for private chats only.
Can I edit or cancel a scheduled Telegram message?
Yes. Open the Scheduled Messages list, then long-press (mobile) or right-click (desktop) the message to reschedule or delete it.
Can Telegram repeat a scheduled message?
Yes, since the 19 November 2025 update. It repeats a single message at fixed intervals. The API documentation says this is for Premium users.
How do I schedule posts to several Telegram channels at once?
Native scheduling works one chat at a time. To publish one post to several channels, use a tool built for it. In Autogram, an automation can generate one post and publish it to several connected channels on paid plans.
Bottom line
Telegram's built-in scheduler is the fastest way to delay a single message. When you manage several channels or want drafts written for you, move that work to a scheduler. Try Autogram scheduling, or see how automations publish to several channels.
